The History of FreeIndex

FreeIndex.co.uk was founded in 2003 by Martin Turner a web developer who noticed that it cost a small fortune for small businesses to advertise their products and services. Martin’s vision was to allow all businesses regardless of their size or their marketing budget to create a detailed company profile which would provide customers with information in a common format.

In 2004 Stephen Bradley – a talented Software Engineer, joined the project. FreeIndex was starting to take off!

Prior to FreeIndex, Martin and Steve had built up a web development firm and together have over 30 years of experience in building software applications for SMEs and corporate customers.

In 2005 Martin and Steve made the decision to focus on FreeIndex and stop working on other projects. Additional staff were hired to help manage the day to day activities to enable Martin and Steve could concentrate on improving the site.

In April 2012 the 350,000th business signed up to FreeIndex and the number of visitors to the site continues to rise.
